Employment Type: Contract

Pay Rate: CAD$50/HR INC

Job Description
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) for Murex Reporting plays a critical role in bridging business stakeholders and the vendor implementation team by translating reporting, data extraction, and information delivery requirements into clear functional specifications and ensuring alignment across all phases of delivery. The BSA develops a robust working knowledge of key reporting domains, with experience in WSS ION and/or Murex, to effectively support solution design, validation, and delivery while enabling business users to execute testing and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering and Business Analysis

Engage with business stakeholders across Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Finance, Risk, and Regulatory Reporting teams to capture and document reporting, data extraction, and information delivery requirements.

Translate business requirements into clear, structured functional requirements, user stories, and use cases for delivery by the vendor.

Develop a strong conceptual understanding of Murex reporting capabilities to ensure requirements align with current platform functionality.

Perform impact analysis across reports, extracts, interfaces, and downstream data consumers.

Vendor Liaison and Solution Coordination

Act as the primary liaison between business users and the vendor, ensuring requirements are clearly communicated, understood, and implemented correctly.

Facilitate requirement walkthroughs, clarifications, and design discussions between stakeholders and vendor teams.

Review vendor‑proposed solutions and validate alignment with business reporting requirements, data definitions, and operational processes.

Ensure traceability between requirements, vendor deliverables, and business outcomes.

Functional Domain Support (Working Knowledge)

Maintain a working understanding of key reporting areas to support discussions, requirement definition, and validation:

SQL and data query concepts

Data mapping

Management, Operational, Risk, Finance, and Regulatory Reporting

Use this knowledge to challenge requirements, identify gaps, and ensure completeness rather than performing hands‑on development or report configuration.

Testing Support and Coordination

Work with business users to define test scenarios and acceptance criteria aligned with documented requirements.

Create, book, and manage test cases, and support overall test planning.

Assist business users during SIT and UAT by clarifying requirements, supporting issue investigation, and coordinating with the vendor for defect resolution.

Validate report outputs, data extracts, field mappings, calculations, and reconciliation results against business expectations.

Track defects, ensure proper triage, and maintain requirement‑to‑test traceability.

Validate that delivered functionality meets business expectations, while business users retain ownership of execution.

Stakeholder Communication

Serve as the central communication point across business stakeholders, vendor teams, and internal technology teams.

Manage requirement sign‑offs, testing readiness checkpoints, and change communication.

Clearly communicate impacts, dependencies, risks, and timelines to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Facilitate discussions regarding data sourcing, report ownership, and report consumption requirements.

Project Execution and Support

Support delivery activities across project phases including requirement definition, design review, testing coordination, and implementation readiness.

Contribute to backlog grooming, sprint ceremonies, and documentation.

Assist with training material preparation and business readiness activities where required.

Support report inventory reviews, reporting rationalization efforts, and migration activities.

Provide post‑implementation support to ensure smooth adoption and issue resolution.

Skills and Competencies

Strong business analysis and requirements translation skills, with the ability to bridge business and technical or vendor teams.

Working knowledge of reporting and data extraction processes within financial services environments.

Familiarity with SQL concepts, data structures, and relational databases.

Understanding of Murex DataMart reporting and reporting architecture concepts.

Understanding of downstream data distribution requirements.

Experience supporting testing coordination, including test case management, defect tracking, and UAT support.

Robust stakeholder management and communication skills across business, reporting, finance, risk, and technology teams.

Ability to understand data lineage, data mapping, and reporting dependencies across systems.

Familiarity with Agile tools and delivery practices.
