Summary
Under the authority of the Manager, Parks and Facilities, the position holder is responsible for managing events across all recreational facilities, as well as conducting regular inspections of parks and playground structures. They also supervise activities taking place in the bars. Additionally, they ensure the operation and maintenance of the St-isidore Recreation Centre and The Nation Sports Complex, which includes operating the ice resurfacer to maintain ice quality, performing custodial duties, and overseeing repairs and general maintenance.
Main Responsibilities
Event-Related Responsibilities
Ensure the organization and management of events, with or without alcohol service, within recreational facilities, while ensuring compliance with regulations regarding the sale and consumption of alcohol.
Responsible for handling and reconciling cash, preparing deposits, and ensuring secure delivery of funds.
Oversee building supervision, greet and assist clients, and supervise staff as needed.
Organize and prepare spaces for various activities and events, including parks and all recreational facilities, by arranging furniture such as tables and chairs.
Provide information to the public and manage the receipt and follow-up of delivered goods.
Occasionally perform bartending duties, including customer service, at bars located within recreational facilities.
Perform any other related duties as required.
Recreational Operations Responsibilities
Operate the ice resurfacer (Zamboni) and the ice edger; replace propane tanks, change worn blades, and perform preventive maintenance on the resurfacer.
Monitor the operation of the compressor systems and maintain associated logs.
Perform ice installation and removal while monitoring ice quality.
Maintain ice regularly, check its thickness, replace rink glass, and ensure the boards are in good condition.
Manage and supervise the staff of the sports bar, bowling alley, and assistant ice resurfacer operators.
Supervise comings and goings within the arena and other recreational facilities.
Occasionally bartending duties, including customer service, at bars within the recreational facilities.
Perform any other related duties as required.
Maintenance Responsibilities
Carry out maintenance work and custodial services to ensure the continuous cleanliness of both indoor and outdoor areas across all recreational facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, sweeping, floor and window cleaning, restroom upkeep, waste management, and floor stripping, waxing, and polishing.
Responsible for the regular maintenance of the synthetic turf at the Sports Complex and for ensuring the walking track is in good condition.
Perform general maintenance work, including plumbing, painting, and carpentry, in recreational facilities and other municipal buildings (as needed).
Conduct safety inspections and evaluations within the facilities.
Paint boundary lines in parking lots, tennis courts, and ice rinks.
Inspect, maintain, and repair sports facilities (ball fields, tennis and basketball courts), splash pads, and urban furniture (picnic tables, benches, fences), as well as outdoor rinks.
Perform tree cutting and maintain shrubs, flower beds, and landscaped areas.
Clear snow from emergency exits and surrounding areas of recreational facilities using shovels, snow blowers, and/or tractors.
Monitor and enforce regulations to maintain order in municipal parks and recreational facilities.
Act responsibly during fire or emergency evacuations.
Ensure that doors and alarm systems are locked or unlocked according to the manager’s instructions.
Lubricate equipment in the bowling alley, adjust strings, and clean lanes as needed.
Prepare incident reports when necessary.
Perform any other related duties as required.
Qualifications And Requirements
Education
High school diploma
Experience
1 to 3 years of experience
Certification /Accreditation
First Aid and CPR/AED certification
SmartServe Certification
ORFA ice resurfacer course, an asset
Specific Knowledge
Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written
Knowledge of WHMIS principles
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards
Knowledge of alcohol regulations
Basic knowledge of electricity and plumbing, an asset
Basic knowledge of smartphone use
