Role Description This is a contract, on-site Emergency Room Nurse role located in Halifax, Yarmouth, Cape Breton, NS. The Emergency Room Nurse will provide direct patient care in the emergency department, including triage, assessment, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring of patients with acute and complex conditions. Responsibilities include administering medications and treatments, collaborating with physicians and allied health professionals, and responding promptly to critical situations and emergencies. The nurse will document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately, follow hospital protocols and safety standards, and support patients and families with clear,
empathetic communication. The role also involves participating in quality improvement initiatives, maintaining competencies through continuing education, and contributing to a culture of teamwork and respect.
Qualifications
Strong clinical foundation in Nursing and Emergency Nursing, with demonstrated competence in acute care settings.
Knowledge of Medicine and Critical Care Medicine principles relevant to emergency department practice.
Proven ability to deliver safe, compassionate, and efficient Patient Care in high-pressure environments.
Current registered nursing license in good standing and eligibility to practice in Nova Scotia.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent an asset.
Experience in emergency or critical care nursing, including triage, stabilization, and management of diverse patient populations.
Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and organized during emergencies.
Commitment to infection control, occupational health and safety, and continuous professional development.
