The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements. They play a critical role in maintaining and improving the quality management system of the organization. The Quality Engineer works within a collaborative and cross-functional team to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
The Quality Engineer is responsible for but not limited to the following: Supporting the Quality Manager with the development, implementation, and audit of the QES Management System.
Perform internal audits as required by the Quality Manager and/or the annual audit schedule.
Training and mentoring Quality Technicians, Quality Inspector and any other team members.
Completes customer and internally assigned PPAPs (ISIR, PSW, PFMEA, Control Plans, etc.). May work alongside Manufacturing Engineering to complete these.
Leads, and drives to completion CCEs and other customer facing quality issue investigations when requested by the Quality Manager. Communicates with customers on quality issues and actions taken.
2D drawing creation, 3D models and PDM in Solidworks.
Understand and follows QES Management System policies, processes, and procedures.
Works collaboratively with many types of people within the company, domestically as well as internationally.
Follows safety,
environmental and security policies, and procedures.
Reports any unsafe or potentially unsafe conditions to the appropriate individuals.
Incoming Inspection Establishes and manages the incoming inspection actions and AQL sampling plans.
Oversees and/or creates Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) on supplier related issues and works with suppliers and the BE team to identify root causes and initiate and manage supplier corrections and corrective actions.
Communicates with suppliers on production methods and tolerancing of parts to improve quality, yield and on time delivery.
Creates new incoming inspection techniques/methods and provides training and oversight.
Manages key inspection tools such as calipers, Keyence optical inspection machine and 3D printed gauges. Ensures all inspection tools are available and ready to be used for incoming parts.
Evaluates part and product nonconformances and dispositions NC material. Reports on Supplier Quality metrics and other Supplier KPIs in collaboration with the Supply Chain team.
Production Support Monitors quality and productivity on the production floor and imposes line holds on urgent matters.
Conducts/assigns containment actions on product/process quality escalations and issues out Quality Alerts.
Identifies, initiates, leads and drives to completion internal 8D investigations to address escalated issues, as appropriate.
Production Requirements Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred but not required)
Experience with APQP and working knowledge of PPAP tools and submissions
At least 5 years of work-related experience, preferably including supplier quality and audit experience.
Experience with executing and improving ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 management systems.
Experience with CAD tools (Solidworks preferred)
American Society for Quality (ASQ) CQA or CQE certification is a strong asset (not mandatory).
PCB manufacturing experience is an asset (not mandatory).
