Safety Coordinator Under the authority of the Quality Director / Person Responsible for Quality Assurance (PRQA) , the Safety Management System (SMS) Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
Key Responsibilities Establish and maintain a reporting system to ensure the timely collection of information related to hazards, incidents, and accidents that may adversely affect safety (CAR 573.32(a)).
Identify hazards and conduct risk management analyses and investigations to determine root causes (CAR 573.32(b)).
Review, analyze, and determine the actual or probable causes of hazards, incidents, and accidents identified through the Safety Management System (CAR 573.32(c)).
Establish and maintain a safety data system to monitor and analyze trends related to hazards, incidents, and accidents (CAR 573.32(d)).
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions implemented in response to identified hazards, incidents, and accidents (CAR 573.32(e)).
Monitor aviation industry safety concerns and assess their potential impact on the Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) (CAR 573.32(f)).
Determine the adequacy of the training required under CAR 573.31(1)(f) (CAR 573.32(g)).
Report hazards, incidents, and accidents identified through the Safety Management System to the Person Responsible for Maintenance (PRM) (CAR 573.32(h)).
Assist the Quality Director with revisions to the MPM (Maintenance Policy Manual) , QPM (Quality Procedures Manual) , and CPM (Company Procedures Manual) .
Deliver presentations and prepare monthly meetings.
Provide visibility to the organization regarding the status of SMS initiatives and activities.
Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required Qualifications College diploma (DEC) or equivalent, with experience in a Safety Management System (SMS) environment.
Minimum of six years of experience performing maintenance work or directly supervising maintenance activities of the type carried out by the organization, including at least six months within the last two years .
Hold an A Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licence or achieve a minimum score of 70% on the Transport Canada Civil Aviation Regulations examination .
Positive understanding of English, both written and spoken.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to adapt quickly to various software applications and information systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and management at all levels.
