TheElectronic Technician/Electrician role, reporting to the Supervisor, FieldServices, is responsible for the installation, maintenance, administration, andtroubleshooting of intelligent surveillance systems, traffic managementsystems, and other technology located on bridges and associated properties. Theresponsibilities include installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, andrepairing industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical andelectronic control systems.
Thisis a *safety-sensitive position. This position necessitates working in varyingweather conditions, including adverse weather, being in proximity to automotivetraffic and moving equipment/vehicles on the bridge, working at extreme heightsranging from 170 to 320 feet above the bridge, and in confined spaces below thebridge or within the bridge towers. Adherence to HHB Safety standards,policies, and processes is crucial, encompassing hazard assessments, the use ofrequired Personal Protective Equipment, proper access to confined spaces, anddiligent safety observations.
EssentialDuties and Responsibilities Adhereto HHB safety protocols, procedures, standards, and Safe Work Practices.
Completemandatory safety training, Job Hazard Assessments, hazard reporting, andcorrective measures to eliminate, mitigate, or control hazards.
Contributesuggestions to enhance the Safety program.
Install,inspect, replace, test, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair ethernet, coaxialcable, electronic control systems, electronic devices, and associated hardware.
Performinstallation, maintenance, and repair tasks on surveillance cameras and relatedelectronic technologies located on bridges or bridge properties.
Troubleshootand maintain traffic management system hardware and associated software.




Supportsintelligent surveillance systems, traffic management systems, and otherelectronic technologies used in bridge operations.
Executepreventive maintenance programs.
Conductscheduled electronic checks on bridges and buildings.
Maintaincomprehensive maintenance records.
Performother duties as assigned.
Requirements Educationin Electronic/Electrical Engineering or equivalent on-the-job experience
Completeand maintain Red Seal Electrician Certification.
Cleandriving record and hold a valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver’s License. DriverAbstract will be requested before employment.
Demonstrateintermediate computer proficiency.
Capableof performing in high-stress situations with minimal supervision, especially insafety-sensitive roles.
Mandatorysafety training includes Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Arial lifts,WHMIS, and First Aid (training provided by the employer if necessary).
Successfulcompletion of physical demand testing and a clean background check.
Displaypunctuality, reliability, and a positive can-do attitude.
Willingnessto work overtime or extended shifts as needed.
Effectivecommunication skills with individuals of varying technical/non-technicalknowledge, skills, or experience.
Abilityto work independently or collaboratively within a team, ensuring efficientoperations, excellent customer service, and a commitment to deliveringhigh-quality work.
Positiondetails Hiring 1 position. This is a Full-time, Permanent,Unionised position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Shift work, on-call response, and extendedhours will be required based on operational demands.
The per-hour wage for this position as perthe Collective Agreement is $39.84
Workingconditions Thisis a *safety-sensitive position requiring work on bridges,



bridge properties,buildings, below bridges, and within bridge towers. The role involves frequentphysical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs regularly (and up to 100 lbsoccasionally), standing, walking, climbing, bending, and working at heights ofapproximately 170 to 320 feet and in confined spaces. Employees must be able towork safely in varying weather conditions, around traffic and moving equipment,and in environments with moderate to heavy noise. The position requires strongattention to detail while monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintainingelectronic systems and equipment. Candidates must be comfortable workingindependently in physically demanding and potentially hazardous conditions.
