Media and Technology Studies invites applications for a term Lecturer to teach one section of MST 100: Introduction to Media Studies in the Fall 2026 term.
This section is offered as part of the University of Alberta’s Foundations Program and primarily serves international students transitioning into university study in Canada.



The successful applicant will be expected to introduce students to the field of Media Studies while creating an inclusive and supportive learning setting for students from varied cultural, educational, and linguistic backgrounds.
The course introduces students to the historical development of Media Studies, its principal objects of study, and its contributions to understanding culture. It examines historical and contemporary media forms and introduces foundational approaches to analyzing media technologies, institutions, texts, and “isl”, practices.
Because the course is part of the Foundations Program, the instructor will also provide clear guidance and structured support as students develop foundational skills in critical reading, academic writing, classroom discussion, and media analysis.
