SQL Developer

Job Purpose
At Network Innovations, our technical ecosystem relies on seamless data flow and rock-solid security. Under the general direction of the Business Systems Manager, the SQL Developer is responsible for Database Administration, writing complex SQL queries, designing and maintaining relational database schemas, optimizing data access patterns, and supporting ETL and reporting workflows using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Oracle-based platforms.
The SQL Developer will also administer billing and activations databases for security, performance, maintenance, and integrations, along with other administrative duties. If you are looking for a position with clear ownership and a direct impact on operational success, this is the role for you!
Duties and Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
Continuously monitor database performance and tune queries, indexes, and configurations to ensure optimal speed and efficiency.
Write, test, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to support reporting, data analysis, integrations, and business system processes.
Develop and implement backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity.
Manage user access, permissions, and encryption to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with security policies.
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and high availability through proper design, replication, and failover mechanisms.
Collaborate with IT/developers and analysts to design efficient database structures, schemas, and data models.
Diagnose and resolve database issues, including downtime, slow queries, and system errors.
Monitor storage and system usage trends to plan for future growth and scale databases as needed.
Automate routine database tasks such as backups, updates, and monitoring using scripts and tools.
Maintain documentation of database systems, procedures, and policies, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Coordinate with other developers to ensure a mutual understanding of systems and timeline requirements.
Monitor internal provisioning systems and report any abnormalities to the Business Systems Manager.
Implementing and ensuring system airtime & billing requests are processed in a timely manner to meet our customers’ expectations.
Follow-through communication on open carrier escalations and provisioning.
Assist in other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Engineering/Computer Science or related field/experience
Minimum 5 years of experience as a SQL developer/data base administrator
Familiar with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL), and able to design/modify relational schemas, adapt Stored Procedures
Familiarity or experience with replication
Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel
Organized and detail oriented
Good verbal and written communication skills
Enthusiastic and personable, with the ability to adapt and thrive in constant change
Collaborative individual with a positive attitude
Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced setting
Dependable, self-starter and self-motivated, innovative problem solver
Must be able to work flexible schedule including some evenings as needed
Willingness to embrace and live the core values of Network Innovations
Familiar with Linked SQL Services
Strong knowledge of SSMS and Oracle databases
Nice to have:
API integration experience
Knowledge in Power BI
Experience with NetSuite ERP
Working Conditions
This position typically operates in a professional office environment. Standard office hours are 8am to 5pm, however, work outside of regular office hours and occasional travel will be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and software.
Physical Requirements
The ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk while working on a computer or reviewing documents.
The ability to use hands to manage and control a keyboard and mouse.
The ability to understand and communicate clearly with others through speaking, listening, or writing.
The ability to move around the office to attend meetings or retrieve documents.
