Gang Intervention and Exiting Team (GIET) – Green Timbers Location

Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), British Columbia’s integrated anti-gang police agency, the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting a hard-working, self-motivated candidate to provide strategic and operational support to GIET.

Reporting to the Intelligence Analyst Supervisor, this position will be responsible for:

Determining, designing and developing data collection strategies, techniques and methods used in the intelligence cycle

Researching, evaluating, interpreting and analyzing information to identify evolving criminal trends and patterns to contribute to the development of operational and strategic intelligence products

Preparing reports to identify and/or illustrate criminal group/individual associations and criminal trends

Conducting operational and strategic analysis to produce intelligence deliverables

Developing methodologies and strategies to support the GIET workflow, data management and retention.

Maintaining knowledge of new developments in analytical methodology, techniques and technology

Establishing a network of internal and external contacts to identify criminal trends, collaborating on joint analytical initiatives/products, exchanging information and conducting intelligence analysis

Communicating analytical findings in a variety of formats (i.e., written products, briefings, presentations)

We are looking for a robust team player with a great attitude and the following qualifications:

Completion of a Bachelors Degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in Economics,



Statistics or Sociology, or in a field related to the position. The specialization may also be obtained through a combination of education, training and/or experience.

Work or Academic experience researching, analyzing information, and preparing written reports

Experience producing and presenting material to decision makers

Minimum 3 years experience working with computers and office technology, software, and applications

Experience using analytical programs including i2 Analyst Notebook, iBase/Microsoft Access, PowerBI/Tableau, data visualization or other specialized geospatial software would be an asset

Experience with police databases or working in a police environment would be an asset

Experience working with Open Source Intelligence techniques and technology would be an asset

Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently

Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

Strong critical thinking skills

Strong analytical writing ability and communication skills

Ability to successfully complete the RCMP Criminal Intelligence Analyst (EC-04) entry examination

Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Ability to work flexible hours on short notice is required

Ability to obtain and maintain a RCMP Top Secret security clearance, Canadian citizenship is required. An active RCMP clearance would be an asset.

This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working 37.50 hours per week. Rates negotiated in the new collective agreement with CUPE 718 will be applied to the current annual salary effective April 1, 2025.

This position requires in-office attendance.
