Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their Plumbing & Excavation team in Parksville, BC. This is an excellent prospect for someone with a strong background in plumbing, excavation, underground utilities, and service estimating who enjoys building relationships and helping drive business growth.

Compensation: $50,000–$60,000 CAD base per year plus tiered commission (Total on target earnings up to $125k CAD/year)

A Day in the Life of an Estimator – Plumbing & Excavation
As the Estimator, you'll play a key role in helping our client win new business by preparing accurate, competitive estimates for plumbing, excavation, underground utility, and service-related projects. You'll collaborate closely with operations, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers to develop project proposals while supporting the company's continued growth. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will directly contribute to successful project planning and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities include:





Prepare detailed estimates for excavation and underground utility projects

Develop estimates for storm, sewer, water service, septic, and site service projects

Estimate plumbing service, repair, drain cleaning, and septic service work

Review project drawings, specifications, and site conditions

Calculate labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs

Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing

Assist with project planning and scheduling

Prepare proposals and quotations for customers

Build and maintain strong customer relationships

Follow up on leads and estimating opportunities to support sales growth

Work closely with operations and management to ensure successful project execution

Requirements and Qualifications:

Experience in the mechanical industry

Strong background in plumbing, excavation, underground utilities, drain cleaning, and septic systems

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Strong communication and organizational skills

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously

Proficiency with computers and estimating software

Self-motivated with a collaborative, team-first mindset

Valid driver's license
