JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the incumbent is responsible for tasks related to the complex bi-weekly payroll, and to assist in the administration of the company benefit plans.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Administration
The incumbent is responsible to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll and maintenance of payroll data including:
Preparing the bi-weekly payroll on time, accurately and in compliance with legislation.
Accurately entering payroll information
Ensuring accuracy of all payroll data, such as, benefits forms, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability forms and Company Pension Plan forms
Verifying and balancing of payroll
Submitting payroll to ADP by designated deadline
Processing new hires, transfers, and terminations
Preparing and/or approving ROE’s and T4’s
Understanding and processing garnishments and family maintenance deductions
Working with ADP on stop payments/reversals
Auditing Payroll Registers
Responding in a timely and appropriate manner to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll data
Benefits Administration
The incumbent is responsible to understand the company benefit and pension plans and to support their administration in the following manner:
Compiling and distributing benefits packages and cards for new employees
Maintaining accurate employee information and inputting changes to family status
Processing SunLife enrollments and terminations
Processing STD and LTD forms
Administering the payment of STD and WCB through the payroll systemResponding to employee questions regarding benefits information
Following up on insurance information for employees
Liaising between employees and insurance broker regarding claims
Compiling and distributing reports as required
In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the Payroll and Perks Administrators are responsible to back up one another for vacation relief, participate in special projects and complete other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation -PCP through National Payroll Institute
Minimum 3years’ experience with computerized full cycle payroll administration
Strong ability to interpret and apply legislative requirements, ideally with experience in a federally regulated environment
Experience with ADP Workforce Now is considered an asset
Excellent Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills
Proven attention to detail
Must be highly organized with strong multi-tasking abilities while working under pressure to meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
Self-motivated

SALARY
The wage range for the position is from $57,800 to $79,000 annually. The expertise and technical skill level of the candidate is assessed during the selection process for placement within the band.
Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job and company knowledge.
