Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

The School of Architecture at Dalhousie University invites applications for a Part‑Time Academic Instructor position in the Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree program. The M.Arch. is a professional two‑year graduate Architecture degree. Students complete a Pre‑Qualified Bachelor degree before M.Arch. enrolment.

The Instructor will teach a first‑year 3‑credit architecture elective seminar. Graduate seminars are topics‑based and can be developed in the instructor’s research and/or practice area‑of‑expertise. Graduate elective courses consist of up to approximately twenty students and meet one time each week for 3 hours. The Fall Term is a 14‑week term. Graduate elective courses may be taught remotely. In‑person is preferred.

This course uses a controlled workshop environment to examine characteristics of a material (e.g., metal, ceramic, glass) and methods for forming and finishing. Using principles of material science, it considers the harvesting or processing of raw material, the testing of structural capacity and environmental behaviour, and applications in design.

Qualifications / Requirements

- M.Arch or equivalent with demonstrated expertise in the advertised topic.

Preferred Qualifications

- Research accomplishment as demonstrated through CV, Portfolio, and Publications
- Prior instruction in subject area at graduate level or equivalent

All offers of employment as a Part‑Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
