Job Summary
The Electric Motor Mechanic will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments; fabricating, modifying, or repairing motor instruments; fabricating and modifying parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines; and applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assembles and tests electric motor and generator stators, armatures, or rotors.
- Inspects cores for defects and aligns laminations as required.
- Tests windings for motor-housing clearance, grounds, and short circuits using clearance gauge, growler, surge testers, meters, meggers, core loss testers, resistance bridges, and other relevant equipment.
- Dismantles and assesses mechanical condition of motors visually and with measuring devices such as verniers, micrometers, and feeler gauges.
- Completes tasks in an orderly, professional, and effective manner.
- Ensures quality standards are met or exceeded.
- Completes all documentation clearly, neatly, and concisely.
- Interacts with customers and fellow workers to ensure service standards are met or exceeded.
- Can travel on site to diagnose or repair customer equipment as required.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Performs all job functions safely and healthfully, abiding by applicable health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations.
- Adheres to the company’s quality system operating procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Minimum grade 12 education (or equivalent) with strong communication, math, and writing skills.
- Ability to work with or without supervision and make independent decisions.
- Mechanically inclined with a sound understanding of industrial processes and applications.
- Cooperative and able to interact with others in a fair and friendly environment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
Pay range: $28.00 to $38.00 per hour. Salary varies based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and market data alignment. The base salary is one component of Ainsworth’s total compensation package, which also includes additional rewards, benefits, and health insurance.
