We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Payroll Tax Analyst/Payroll Tax Manager to oversee payroll tax compliance for North America, reporting, reconciliation, and regulatory requirements across a multi-state payroll environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll tax calculations, filings, remittances, and employee tax reporting while supporting payroll operations and process improvements. The Payroll Tax Analyst will work closely with Payroll, Human Resources, Finance, and third-party vendors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Key Responsibilitie eEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations
.Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting payroll taxes and assess operational impacts
.Coordinate implementation of payroll tax updates and compliance requirements
.Maintain payroll tax procedures, controls, and supporting documentation
Tax Filing & Reportin gReview and validate payroll tax calculations, deductions, and withholdings
.Support preparation and reconciliation of quarterly and annual payroll tax filings
.Coordinate year-end reporting activities, including W-2 processing and related tax filings
.Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax payments and regulatory reports
sPerform payroll tax account reconciliations and identify discrepancies
.Research, analyze, and resolve payroll tax variances and compliance issues
.Audit payroll data to ensure tax accuracy and proper jurisdictional assignments
.Analyze payroll tax trends and prepare reports for management
.Agency Correspondence & Issue Resolutio nRespond to federal, state, and local tax notices and agency inquiries
.Partner with third-party tax providers and government agencies to resolve payroll tax issues
.Manage tax account registrations,
unemployment tax rates, and jurisdictional updates
.Track and document resolution of payroll tax notices and compliance matters
.Systems & Process Improvemen tParticipate in payroll system testing related to tax updates and regulatory changes
.Assist with payroll tax automation initiatives and process enhancements
.Support implementation of system upgrades, acquisitions, and organizational changes
.Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
.Cross-Functional Collaboratio nPartner with Payroll, HR, Finance, Accounting, and external vendors on payroll tax matters
.Provide guidance regarding payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
.Support audits by providing payroll tax documentation and analysis
.Assist with special projects and reporting requests as needed
.Qualificatio nsRequir
edBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experienc
e.3+ years of payroll tax, payroll compliance, or payroll administration experienc
e.Exposure to Canadian & US payroll t
axStrong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulation
s.Experience managing payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and agency correspondenc
e.Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, Ceridian Dayforce, SAP, Oracle, or similar platform
s.Advanced Microsoft Excel and analytical skill
s.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilitie
s.Preferr edCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC
.Experience supporting multi-state payroll workplace
s.Knowledge of SOX controls and audit requirement
