Requirements

This is a hybrid position requiring at least two days per week in the Brampton office based on workload requirements that is subject to change based on operational needs.

General Responsibilities
The Finance Manager is responsible for tactically coordinating and supporting the management and administration of all financial and general accounting services for WellFort Community Health Services. This role will work in close alignment with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure a highly effective finance function across the organization and to support strategic growth and business development. With a focus on supporting people and process, the Finance Manager will oversee the effective co-ordination and execution of all daily activities of the Finance function and staff and the timely and accurate reporting and planning of the finances of WellFort. Reporting to the CFO, the Finance Manager participates in the successful leadership and management of the finance portfolio to support the organization’s Mission, Vision and Values.

Accountability

The Finance Manager will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Specific Responsibilities
Supervision and Departmental Management

Provides empowering leadership to support a high functioning team including all finance and payroll functions as organizational needs dictate.

Supervises staff, including scheduling oversight, timecard and vacation approvals, and employee performance evaluations.

Builds and supports a culture of accountability and a robust reinforcement of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion practices within the team.

Develops strong financial acumen among department team and other key team members in the organization as a coach and mentor.

Chairs monthly finance team meetings.

Ensures day-to-day accounting operations provide accurate and timely financial information to leadership team.

Financial Accounting and Reporting

Provides support and training to direct reports regarding cost allocations and coding of expenses.

Reviews journal entries, accruals and adjustments. Posts journal entries to general ledger.

Prepares monthly bank reconciliation. Reviews and approves HST/GST rebate applications.

Reviews monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements to identify opportunities for change, shift mindsets and behaviors to achieve necessary results.

Monitors revenues and expenditures against budgets and funder allocations.





Reviews monthly variance analysis and works collaboratively with internal partners to help solve issues/challenges.

Reviews balance sheet accounts monthly and recommends adjustments/write offs.

Prepares monthly revenue reconciliation to funder agreements.

Supports budget holders in understanding financial results and spending restrictions.

Reviews and approves bank transactions/payments through CIBC portal.

Ensures finance policies and procedures are up-to-date, regularly reviewed in accordance with policy and are consistently followed.

Supports and prepares strategic and program planning financial analysis as requested

Budgeting and Forecasting

Assists CFO in preparing annual operating budget and multi-year budgets for new funding and tracks performance against targets.

Assists CFO in preparing forecasts (after Q2 and Q3 results).

Assists CFO with operationalizing strategic goals.

External Reporting and Funder Compliance

Tracks and reports restricted and unrestricted funding.

Prepares financial reports for funders, including Ontario Health, Ministry of Health and others

Ensures spending compliance and cost-sharing requirements with funder agreements and policies/directives.

Ensures completion and timely submission of all tax reporting, corporation filings and and ensures WellFort is always in compliance with legislative requirements.

Audit support and Internal Controls

Prepares year-end audit working papers, schedules, and samples as required by audit team.

Ensures finance policies are adhered to and recommends policy and process improvements.

Other Duties

Ad hoc reporting and project work to support decision making for CEO, CFO and other members of the senior leadership team.

Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Experiences & Skills

Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.

CPA designation or close to completion is required.

5+ years of experience in accounting and finance required.

2+ years in a not-for-profit, healthcare, or public sector environment required.

Hands-on experience with financial reporting & variance analysis, budgets and forecasts, and general ledger account maintenance.

Supervision or leadership experience considered an asset.

Experience with Ontario Health and Ministry of Health funding and OHRS Guidelines and reporting.

Demonstrated knowledge of Great Plains, FRxReporter, and ADP WorkforceNow.

Advanced excel skills (v-lookup, pivot tables, data validation).

Experience with payroll legislation, benefit administration and HOOPP is considered an asset.

Demonstrated knowledge of ADP Workforce Now.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where there are multiple, changing priorities.

Hiring Wage Range : $82,014 - $112,914 (consideration of experience)
