Become a pivotal Community Outreach Worker dedicated to serving marginalized communities. Engage directly with street-involved individuals and provide necessary education, advocacy, and support.
This role calls for a minimum of two years working with populations such as street youth and drug users. A background in counseling, particularly focused on mental health and addictions, enhances your effectiveness. You'll work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team while addressing critical street issues and offering harm reduction strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop rapport and provide support to individuals in need
• Initiate outreach through walking and mobile van services
• Conduct education sessions on harm reduction techniques
• Manage cases and assist with referrals as needed
• Perform direct treatment observations within the community
Requirements:
• At least two years of experience with marginalized groups
• Post-secondary certificate in health services or related field
• Current driver’s license and access to transportation
• Understanding of substance use and public health issues
• Capacity to work weekends and evenings as required
