Telecommunicator I - Supplemental Forms Required - Review Entire Posting This position performs technical work dispatching law enforcement, medical, fire, rescue and other equipment and personnel in response to emergency and non-emergency situations. Other requirements include working at a communications console for extended periods of time, analyzing communications, detailed & accurate typing, and speaking distinctly. Applicants will need to possess the ability to deal courteously with the public and emergency responders under stressful conditions. Position involves working varying shifts, which will include weekend and holiday schedules.
Requirements Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain DCI (Division of Criminal Investigations), Basic Telecommunicator, EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) and CPR certifications. Prefer persons with experience in computerized dispatching or in law-enforcement, EMS, or fire dispatching, and the knowledge of the Halifax County area. This position requires working scheduled shifts. The position requires the ability to type 35 wpm.

Compensation The hiring range for this position is $41,048-$45,903.
