Overview WildBrain Studios is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team! Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role is for a deadline-oriented person with strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, proactive in taking on new challenges, and has a knack for numbers.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You’ll Do:

Process full-cycle, bi-weekly payroll for both union and non-union employees within strict deadlines using UKG

Respond to and resolve payroll inquiries from employees, management, unions, and external agencies

Prepare year-end employee tax slips or forms, and submit government filings to meet deadlines

Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements

Perform account reconciliations for payroll-related accounts (wages payable, taxes, benefits, accruals)

Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROEs) as required

Process complex transactions such as retroactive pay, severance, and bonus calculations

Prepare payroll funds transfers from multiple bank platforms

Review and reconcile US (Greenslate) payroll

Maintain detailed understanding of union contracts and ensure payroll practices align with agreed terms

Other payroll tasks and responsibilities as requested

What You’ll Bring

You have 3+ experience in processing payroll for a large number of employees and multiple entities

You have advanced Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft programs

You hold a bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting/Finance or Business

Experience with UKG is an asset

You are detail oriented with strong analytical skills





You are diligent and able to work within strict deadlines, multi-task and be proactive

You can work independently and in a team environment

You possess strong communication skills and prioritization skills

You have previous experience with online banking platforms and EFT Payroll

You have PCP certification or working towards completion

Pay Range: $55,000 - $70,000 CAD annually, based on a 40-hour work week.

Candidates are paid within the range posted, but their exact pay will vary based on the level, responsibilities and expectations of the role. We also take into consideration the experience and skills that individual brings, with consideration of our internal equity.
