Make a difference in the lives of youth as a Casual Youth Worker with the Nova Scotia Department of Justice in Waterville. Support safe reintegration, cooperation, and individualized programming for youth in custody on a shift basis.
In this role, you will assist with the care and control of young persons in a secure facility. Responsibilities include planning and implementing programs, preparing custodial progress reports, and managing case files. You will act as a role model and maintain institutional security, promoting adherence to rules and encouraging positive behavior among youth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate individual and group programs like Anger Management
• Develop and implement case plans for assigned youth
• Write timely reports on custodial progress
• Conduct counts and searches in the facility
• Ensure compliance with security requirements
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a social science or community college diploma
• 2+ years of relevant experience in youth support
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a secure workplace
• Valid driver’s license and First Aid certification required
