Hours: 37.5 hours weekly at $34/hour

About The Safe at Home Society is a collaborative organization dedicated to ending and preventing homelessness in the Yukon.

Job Overview
Using the Homeless Individuals and Families Information System (HIFIS), the HIFIS Records Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining the community’s information management system according to existing policies and processes.

Responsibilities

Use the Homeless Individuals and Families Information System to manage personal information related to the Coordinated Access system in Whitehorse.

Maintains access lists for user access of confidential and sensitive information.

Implements and updates HIFIS record classification, retention, and deactivation according to scheduling plans.

Compile statistics and generate reports on the activities within the information management system.

Perform system audits and cross-reference, log, and store records according to Coordinated Access policies.

Collaborates with IT consultants and internal staff to address system-related issues, streamline administrative workflows, and enhance program functionality.





Administer policies and procedures related to the release of records in processing requests under client and service provider access to information and pertinent privacy legislation such as PIPEDA.

Participate in role succession planning and adhere to organizational IT and privacy standards and procedures (i.e., storage, records retention, passwords, etc.).

Education and Experience

Minimum post-secondary course work, degree or diploma in a relevant field such as information or records management technology

At least 1 year experience working directly with the Yukon’s Homeless Individuals and Families Information System in an administrative, non-profit capacity.

Two to three years’ experience in a records management setting

Qualifications

Proficiency in the Homeless Individuals and Families Information System (HIFIS), the use of Crystal Reports, and Microsoft Suite

The submission of OCAP Certification.

Experience working with personal information in the Yukon, knowledge of territorial and federal privacy legislation.

The submission of a Vulnerable Sector police check.

Standard First Aid Certification or willing to obtain upon hire.
