The candidate will be expected to understand detailed engineering drawings and flow sheets from both clients and vendors, and work closely with other disciplines to design various areas related to Mining and Metals. The ideal candidate will have experience with all phases of a project from Scoping Study to Detailed Design, and will know what level of detail is required for each phase.The candidate will need to be a strong communicator and have a solid understanding of the value to work in a team environment.Day To Day Activities And Responsibilities IncludePrepare 3D layouts and/or schematics for conceptual and detailed designs of advanced complexity in 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawingsCreate 3D models in Intergraph Smartplant environmentParticipate in model review sessionsReview drawings and vendor equipment documentation of moderate to advanced complexity within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution; Assign work toand check work done by other designersIncorporate health, safety,
and environmental factors in designAnalyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelinesOrganize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlinesAdhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and proceduresOther duties as assignedBasic Job RequirementsAccredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in technical field of studyA combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) to fifteen (15) yearsThese positions will be for a "Piping Designer" that should be fluent in Smartplant 3D Software OR comparable 3D softwareAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitorsJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the jobAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.Preferred QualificationsIntermediate to strong experience with Smartplant 3D software OR comparable 3D software; Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials; Practical field experience an asset; Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs.Fluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge, and commitment.
