Salary: $38 per hour (full time position – 40 hrs./week)

Job Description

- Read and interpret conventional and computer-assisted design (CAD) engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for mechanical systems including process piping modifications, hot tapping connections, tie-ins, isolation points, and temporary bypass systems for live operating facilities.
- Assist in conducting tests and technical analyses of machines, piping components, and materials to determine performance, structural integrity, and suitability for hot tapping and live-line modifications, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Assist in inspecting mechanical installations and construction activities, including pre- and post‑hot tapping inspections, verification of alignment, and compliance with engineering drawings and safety procedures.
- Participate in preparing contract, tender, and technical scope documents for mechanical and piping projects, including hot tapping services, outlining technical requirements, safety controls, testing procedures, and quality standards.
- Assist in monitoring and inspection of mechanical installations and construction projects, including coordination and technical oversight of hot tapping operations, ensuring work is executed according to approved designs, schedules, and safety requirements.
- Assist in preparing engineering standards, maintenance schedules, and procedures and support mechanical maintenance programs or plant operations, including planning and documentation for hot tapping,



live‑line maintenance, and system modification activities to minimize downtime and operational disruption.
- Assist in the preparation and review of hot tapping documentation, including method statements, permits, job hazard analyses, and safety plans.
- Assist with project close‑out activities, including organizing final documentation, tracking deficiencies, and supporting project handover.

Job Requirements

Completion of two‑year college program in mechanical engineering technology.

Minimum 2 years of job‑related experience required.

Skills

- Skilled in AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of hot tapping and live‑line modifications.
- Problem solving skills, cognitive skills and creativity are required to find solutions to challenging issues.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction projects and safety procedures.
- Ability to report missing specifications and errors to supervisor upon encountering technical drawings with missing specifications and errors.
- Organized, detail‑oriented and proactive to identify issues to provide sufficient preventative measures.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

Physically demanding; handling heavy loads; standing for extended periods; bending, crouching, kneeling, hand‑eye coordination, etc.
