Responsibilities
The General Manager is responsible for overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the countertop manufacturing company. This role ensures the successful coordination of all departments, including production, sales, customer service, purchasing, installation, and administrative functions, while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, profitability, and safety. Act as a key decision-maker for operational performance, resource allocation, and team leadership. The individual is expected to provide direction and leadership in the facility to foster continuous improvement and achieve annual and long-term goals. Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company goals and directives from the Manufacturing Manager.
Identify opportunities for business growth, cost reduction, and market expansion.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives across all departments, including workflow optimization, quality control, and customer experience.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
Develop strong lines of communication and cooperation between the companies
Operational Management
Oversee all aspects of customer service, production,
installation, and manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency and quality.
Monitor KPIs, including production yields, order accuracy, inventory levels, and on-time delivery.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Approve budgets, manage expenses, and optimize resource allocation across the organization.
Plan and manage labor requirements based on business needs.
Departmental Oversight
Oversee all departments.
Participate in the recruitment process for direct reports.
Promote and enforce HR policies and practices.
Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities for direct reports.
Implement progressive disciplinary management as needed.
Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and cross-training to reduce bottlenecks, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Lead monthly meetings with all employees.
Financial & Commercial Performance
Oversee financial performance, including revenue, cost of goods sold (COGS), labor costs, and operational expenses.
Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and strategic business plans for submission to the Manufacturing Manager. (profit and loss's and understand the difference)
Monitor pricing strategies, vendor contracts, and procurement practices to ensure profitability.
Analyze operational and financial reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Customer & Stakeholder Relations
Serve as the executive point of contact for key clients, retail partners, and major accounts.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and maintain relationships with strategic partners.
Review and handle escalated customer issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
Compliance & Certifications
Ensure all provincial licenses, certifications, legal documents,
and industry compliance requirements are maintained throughout the organization.
Coordinate with department heads to ensure proper record-keeping and audit readiness.

Foster and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, or a related field (or equivalent education in the Canadian education system)
Must be fully bilingual (English and French)
English-speaking internal and external [clients/partners/employees] located outside Quebec on a [daily/regular] basis
At least 3 years in a management or operational leadership position within a manufacturing environment
If they have worked in a retail environment such as (Canadian Tire, Rona, Lowes etc...an asset)
Operational expertise including manufacturing, supply chain, warehouse management, process engineering, and customer service
Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and/or Six Sigma practices
Strong business acumen and thought leadership, with a demonstrated ability to translate business needs into effective action
Drive for results, proven success with business clients, and experience in developing and implementing change initiatives
Highly effective project management skills, with a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to integrate multiple resources into unified solutions
Strong written and verbal communication, influencing, and consulting skills, with a proven track record of quickly gaining credibility and collaborating with managers and leaders
Collaborative decision-making and working style, comfortable operating in gray areas
Robust problem-solving skills and the ability to assess business needs as well as design and implement best-fit solutions
Ability to quickly learn, understand, and stay informed on factors influencing business performance, the industry, customer segments, the business value proposition, and how the company maintains a competitive advantage in the market
