As a Business Development Associate, you'll be the front line connecting SRJ's SR&ED; and accounting expertise with the business owners, CFOs, and finance leaders who need it. You'll work closely with our technical and financial teams to identify prospective clients, open doors with senior decision-makers, and guide opportunities from first conversation through to a signed engagement. This is a full-cycle sales role suited to someone who's comfortable prospecting, building relationships from scratch, and translating a technical program like SR&ED; into a transparent business case.
What You'll Do
- Identify, research, and reach out to prospective clients across target industries (technology, engineering, healthcare, and more)
- Build and manage your own pipeline of qualified opportunities, rather than relying solely on inbound leads
- Own the sales cycle end-to-end: from first outreach through qualification, proposal, and handoff to our technical/delivery team
- Build genuine relationships with founders, CEOs, and CFOs, positioning SRJ as a trusted partner
- Identify prospects' potential for R&D; and other government incentive programs, as well as their funding needs
- Partner with SRJ's technical and accounting teams to shape proposals that address each client's specific situation
- Deliver presentations and pitches to prospective clients and industry contacts
- Stay current on SR&ED; program changes, related government incentives, and market trends, and bring that knowledge into client conversations
What We're Looking For
- 5 years of experience is sales
- Experience in SR&ED; sales preferred, ideally in a complex or consultative selling environment
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- A track record of generating your own pipeline and hitting sales targets
- Comfort speaking with senior decision-makers (CEOs, CFOs, founders) and adapting your pitch to their priorities
- Strong communication and presentation skills, written and verbal
- Familiarity with SR&ED;, government grants, or professional services sales is a strong asset
- Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage your own time and pipeline with minimal day-to-day supervision
- Comfortable working with standard business software/CRM tools
