Position Overview
Collabera is seeking a QA Automation Developer to join the Public Markets Technology - Total Fund Management Trading team at an investment Industry.
This is an Individual Contributor role supporting back-end applications used for trading and post-trade activities across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, derivatives, OTC products, and foreign exchange.
The role combines approximately 70% automation testing and 30% functional/manual testing .
The successful candidate will work within an established Python and Pytest automation framework, focusing on enhancing existing automation coverage, developing new test cases, validating back-end data, and supporting functional testing activities.
The candidate must be comfortable performing both automated and manual testing and should have a basic understanding of trading and the front-to-back trade lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will bring approximately 6-7 years of relevant experience , strong Python skills, excellent analytical capabilities, and the flexibility to work across automation, functional testing, data validation, and release-testing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test cases using Python and Pytest.
- Expand test coverage within an established back-end automation framework.
- Perform automation testing for applications supporting trading and post-trade processes.
- Conduct functional and manual testing based on business and system requirements.
- Validate back-end data inputs, outputs, transformations, and processing results.
- Write and execute SQL queries to verify data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Perform smoke, regression, integration, functional, and user acceptance testing.
- Analyze defects, identify root causes, and work with developers and business stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Review requirements and translate business scenarios into effective test cases.
- Support testing across front-office, middle-office, and back-office workflows.
- Build or maintain automated testing pipelines triggered by code commits,
pull requests, merges, or other development events.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or comparable tools.
- Work with applications and data hosted within cloud-based environments.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, and trading technology stakeholders.
- Manage multiple testing responsibilities independently in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 6-7 years of experience in quality assurance, test automation, or software development in test.
- Strong automation-testing mindset with the ability to work as an Individual Contributor.
- At least 5 years of hands‑on Python experience, with a minimum of intermediate-level proficiency.
- Strong hands‑on experience using the Pytest framework.
- Experience developing automated test cases and enhancing existing Python/Pytest automation frameworks.
- Previous experience testing back-end applications, services, APIs, databases, or batch-processing systems.
- Strong SQL skills for querying databases and validating back-end data.
- Experience performing data-validation testing across application inputs, outputs, and downstream systems.
- Strong understanding of the software-testing lifecycle, including functional, automation, smoke, regression, integration, and UAT testing.
- Experience with both automated and manual testing.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts, tools, ecosystems, and best practices.
- Experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or a comparable CI/CD platform.
- Ability to build or maintain event‑driven automation pipelines triggered by commits, pull requests, or code merges.
- Working knowledge of cloud ecosystems, cloud storage, and cloud-based application architecture.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting,
and problem‑solving skills.
- Self-driven and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities within a collaborative team environment.
Capital Markets and Functional Knowledge
- Previous exposure to trading, capital markets, or investment‑management environments.
- Basic understanding of the front-office, middle-office, and back-office trade lifecycle.
- Familiarity with trading or post‑trade activities across asset classes such as equities, fixed income, derivatives, OTC products, or foreign exchange.
- Ability to understand functional requirements and translate trading or financial workflows into test scenarios.
- General financial‑services knowledge is considered an asset.
Deep capital-markets expertise is not required; however, candidates must have enough trading or trade‑lifecycle exposure to understand the applications and business processes being tested.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Previous experience working formally as a Software Development Engineer in Test.
- Experience with Gherkin or behavior‑driven development practices.
- Experience with AWS; candidates with experience in other cloud platforms will also be considered.
- Experience testing trading, portfolio‑management, investment‑management, or post‑trade systems.
- Familiarity with financial products and asset‑class terminology.
