Role Description The Lead Carpenter is a full-time, on-site role based in Squamish, BC. This position oversees day-to-day carpentry activities on luxury custom home and select commercial projects, including layout, framing, and finish work. The Lead Carpenter coordinates and directs carpentry crews, ensures work meets quality and safety standards, and collaborates closely with site supervisors and subcontractors. Typical tasks include reading and interpreting plans, organizing materials and tools, setting up and maintaining work areas,
and performing hands-on carpentry using power and hand tools. The role also includes mentoring junior carpenters, troubleshooting site issues, and helping maintain project schedules and workflow.
Qualifications
Strong core carpentry skills, including structural Carpentry and Framing.
Proficiency with Power Tools and safe, effective use of Hand Tools.
Experience with high-quality Finish Carpentry in luxury or custom homes.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
Demonstrated experience leading or supervising carpentry crews on active job sites.
Commitment to workplace safety, including adherence to site safety policies and PPE requirements.
Positive communication and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate tasks and meet deadlines.
Several years of progressive carpentry experience; relevant trade certification or apprenticeship completion is an asset.
Physical ability to perform construction tasks, including lifting, standing, and working in varied outdoor conditions.
