Title: Hardware & Software Engineering Applications Manager Location: Toronto, ON/Remote Duration: 12 Months Introduction We are seeking a highly technical and collaborative individual to lead the core engineering applications environment for the Hardware Platform Solutions (HPS) group.
This leadership role is responsible for eliminating engineering environment blocks and bridging the gap between enterprise corporate IT and specialized R&D; application workflows.
Standard enterprise IT infrastructures are optimized for volume-driven manufacturing stability.
This role, however, demands an agile approach to support the rapid iteration and unique tools necessary for product development.
Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in enterprise IT application management, with at least 4 years explicitly dedicated to supporting an R&D; Hardware/Software Engineering organization.
Prior experience leading or managing a technical team of systems administrators or applications engineers.
Deep operational knowledge of configuring, licensing, and deployment methods for major EDA/CAD platforms (specifically Cadence, Synopsys, Ansys, or PTC Windchill/Creo).
Robust administrative experience with Azure Dev
Ops, Jira Enterprise, Git workflows, CI/CD pipeline structures, and containerization frameworks (Docker/Kubernetes).
Technical familiarity with Windows desktop support, non-standard Linux base development images (Ubuntu, Rocky Linux) endpoints, and enterprise endpoint solutions (Big
Fix, Threat
Locker).
Expert-level mastery of license managers (FlexLM, RMS, etc.), license queuing,
and multi-tenant licensing tracking tools.
Prior work experience at client or in client''s Industry Preferred Skills & Qualifications Client Certified: Dev
Ops Engineer Expert or Azure Solutions Architect ITIL Leader, Strategic Leader, or Managing Professional certification Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Scrum
Master (CSM) Day-to-Day Responsibilities Act as the primary technical liaison between HPS engineering teams and corporate IT to ensure specialized R&D; tools conform to infrastructure security requirements without disrupting developer agility.
Overhaul, automate, and maintain application provisioning playbooks to eliminate the traditional ''Day 1 productivity gap,'' ensuring new software and hardware engineers achieve full toolset access immediately upon onboarding.
Manage the application packaging, infrastructure compliance, and centralized license server configurations for the multi-disciplinary HPS hardware engineering stack.
Direct the operational support for application lifecycle management (ALM), source control, and container platforms, utilizing Azure Dev
Ops, Jira Cloud Enterprise, Confluence Cloud Premium, Git, Git
Kraken, Docker, and Kubernetes to drive developer productivity.
Oversee specialized environments AMI BIOS/BMC source code toolchains, Green Hills MULTI compilers, and automated vulnerability platforms like Black Duck, Coverity, Opswat Meta
Defender, and Defensics.
Manage the distribution, licensing, and update synchronization for specialized validation/lab software used by software testing teams.
