The Maintenance Manager is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents through the strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.

As a Maintenance Manager your typical day will impact in the following ways: Planning, co-ordinating, directing and monitoring the effectiveness of all operational activities within the maintenance department.

Planning, organizing, directing and supervising department team members to perform proper general, routine maintenance, minor repairs, fire safety, and scheduled servicing operations to maintain the Long Term Care Community/Retirement Residence in a secure manner.

Determining scope of work, receiving cost estimates and referring problems requiring specialized work such as electrical or plumbing to outside contractors and monitors work performed.

Leading an effective recruitment, orientation, and performance management process in accordance with the organization standards for all team members within the department.

Managing and monitoring all expenditures, explains monthly variances and works with the Executive Director/General Manager to identity corrective action.





Performing other duties as assigned.

Must haves: Relevant post-secondary diploma from a community college such as Building Systems. A minimum of 3 years management experience.

Health and Safety Certification (level 1 and 2).

Knowledge of HVAC equipment, computerized building management systems, electrical systems distribution, fire alarm and sprinkler systems including operation of and testing requirements, emergency diesel generator operations, etc.

Ability to read and interpret building prints and drawings.

Bonus points for having: WHMIS training considered an asset.

Experience in a Care Community and/or Retirement Residence preferred.
