**Position Description**
Help tell the stories shaping the future of child health.
The Senior Communications Advisor (Strategic Initiatives) will join Sick
Kids' dynamic Communications & Public Affairs team to bring some of the organization's most ambitious priorities to life.
Working across high-profile initiatives such as Precision Child Health (https://www.sickkids.ca/en/about/precision-child-health/) , the Precision Child Health Partnership (https://pchp.ca/) , Sick
Kids Artificial Intelligence (SKAI) (https://www.sickkids.ca/en/about/sickkids-artificial-intelligence/) , the Labatt Family Thriving Minds Program (https://www.sickkids.ca/en/news/archive/2026/labatt-family-donates-$40-million-in-support-of-integrated-child-and-youth-mental-health-care/)
and other emerging focus areas, you will help audiences understand how Sick
Kids is advancing care, research and innovation in support of Sick
Kids 2030.
As a trusted advisor and skilled storyteller,
you will work closely with leaders, subject-matter experts and partners to develop strategic communications plans and compelling content for internal and external audiences.
From translating complex ideas into accessible stories to supporting executive communications, announcements, events and digital content, you will play a central role in building awareness, engagement and momentum around work that is transforming the hospital.
Reporting to the Manager, Communications (Research Institute & Strategic Initiatives), this role is well suited to a strategic and cooperative communications professional who can confidently manage multiple priorities, provide thoughtful counsel and turn complex information into engaging and meaningful communications.
_Please note this is a maternity leave contract._
**Here's What You'll Get To Do**
Work with leaders and staff to profile innovative initiatives by developing stories, content and communications plans
Write and edit for a variety of channels and formats, including news releases and stories, web and social content, newsletters, presentation decks and speaking notes
Provide strategic communications advice to clients and internal partners, championing the Sick
Kids brand, messaging, processes and tools across portfolio projects
Support event planning and execution for related events
Act as the primary liaison with internal and external partners, foundations and vendors
Participate in the on-call rotation for Communications & Public Affairs
**Here's What You'll Need**
**Essential requirements**
Degree/diploma in Communications or a related area, or relevant experience
5+ years of progressive communications experience
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with ability to use storytelling and plain language to communicate complex information for different audiences
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple projects and clients independently
Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
**Assets**
Working knowledge of Share
Point, Mailchimp and/or Canva is an asset
Experience working in health care, a hospital environment or a matrixed organization
**Employment Type**
Full-time, 1.0 FTE (35 hours per week), 14-month maternity leave contract
Hybrid working environment (currently 3 days/week on-site, 2 days/week remote)
