Responsibilities include: Set up and operate CNC surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, jig grinders, and DCM grinding equipment.
Perform precision grinding operations on hardened tool steels, carbide, stainless steel, and other engineering materials.
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T; requirements, and tooling specifications.
Establish and maintain machine offsets, wheel compensation, and process parameters.
Grind precision tooling components,
punches, die sections, inserts, pilots, fixtures, gauges, and production parts.
Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, height gauges, optical comparators, and CMM reports.
Troubleshoot dimensional, surface finish, concentricity, runout, and geometric tolerance issues.
Perform cylindrical grinding of OD, ID, taper, and form-ground features.
Perform jig grinding operations on critical locations requiring micron-level positional accuracy.
Operate DCM equipment for high-volume precision grinding applications.
Collaborate with Toolmakers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality personnel, and Production teams to resolve technical issues.
Assist in debugging current tooling and supporting production launch activities.
Qualifications: Tool and Die Maker, General Machinist, Precision Machining, or equivalent apprenticeship/trade certification preferred.
Minimum 5 years of precision grinding experience in a toolroom, die shop, aerospace, automotive, fineblanking, or precision manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated experience with CNC grinding equipment.
Experience grinding hardened tool steels and precision components.
Experience with tight tolerance machining (±0.0002" or better) preferred.
