Our 50 bed nursing home is a large facility with a relaxed country atmosphere and tightly knit care team.

We are located just 45 minutes from Moncton in the Village of Riverside-Albert.

We are currently accepting applications for Part Time Cook Cook (Part Time) Reporting to the Support Service Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, directing and prioritizing work responsibilities and maintaining quality assurance.

Qualifications: High School graduation plus additional program/courses of over one and up to two years or equivalent which includes a one year cook training program plus blocks two and three.

Red Seal Certified.

Valid Certificate of The National Food Safety Training Program as required by Public Health Regulations.

Can assume leadership role with supervisory abilities for the organization and qualified direction of the dietary department under Support Service Manager and/or Dietitian.

Must have work experience in large quantity cooking.

Ability to read, write and to follow written and oral instructions.

Computer skills and/or willingness to learn essential Dietary computer programs.

Mentally and physically able to perform assigned duties.

Other assigned duties as per the JJEC Rating Rationales and key Summary of Activities.

Good previous work and attendance record.





Key Activities: Coordinates and delegates duties to dietary staff.

Communicates with residents, families, team members, health care professionals and departments within the nursing home concerning dietary needs.

Orders, receives, stocks and maintains inventory of supplies.

Prepares and cooks meals according to planned menus and requisitions.

Prepares and monitors special diets such as allergies, gluten free, low calorie and high fiber.

Prioritizes food preparation and cooking tasks within established timeframe.

Bakes items such as desserts and breads.

Monitors and documents food and refrigeration temperatures.

Monitors and documents residents diets.

Portions and serves meals to residents according to assigned diets.

Serves meals to staff and visitors.

Practices safe handling of food as required by Public Health standards such as storing and dating.

Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment and surface areas such as grill and ovens.

Operates kitchen equipment such as ovens, meat-slicer, dishwasher and steam table.
