Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team at Arbor Trace Memory Care Residence. This role requires a robust foundation in nursing practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to diverse patient needs. The RPN will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal health outcomes and deliver personalized care to residents with dementia and other cognitive impairments.
Duties
- Administer medications and treatments accurately following physician orders and established protocols
- Monitor patient vital signs and assess health status regularly
- Assist with resident mobility, hygiene, and comfort measures
- Document resident care activities
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans
- Provide specialized care for dementia residents
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions to stay current with medical practices
Experience
- Prior experience in nursing home settings, hospitals, acute care, retirement home or assisted living facilities is highly desirable
- Experience with dementia care is preferred
- Proficiency in medical terminology and medication administration is essential
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as PCC is advantageous
- Background in home care or medical office environments is beneficial
- Demonstrated ability to handle case management responsibilities and pain management techniques is preferred
- Strong patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including elderly residents
