Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. You will diagnose, maintain, and repair our fleet of commercial vehicles and specialized hydro excavation trucks as well as Cube Vans and Pick ups. Your main goal is to keep our equipment safe, reliable, and ready for dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and fix mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on hydrovac units, water pumps, blowers, and boom systems.
- Fleet Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and servicing on light and heavy-duty fleet trucks.
- System Overhauls: Repair engines, transmissions, drivelines, air brakes, and suspension components.
- Documentation: Keep accurate logs of all repair work, parts used, and safety inspections performed.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all workplace safety rules and ensure equipment meets provincial standards before returning to service.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certification:
Valid Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanic certification (or solid registered apprentice level). [1]
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience working on heavy trucks and specialized industrial equipment (hydrovac/vacuum experience is a strong asset). [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Driver’s License: Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license (Class 3 with air brake endorsement preferred). [1]
- Skills: Strong working knowledge of 12V/24V electrical troubleshooting and high-pressure hydraulic schematics. [1, 2]
- Tools: Provide standard personal hand tools; specialized shop tools provided.
Pay: $35.16-$55.53 per hour
