Jag Virk Law Skilled Corporation is a successful criminal defence law firm. We are looking to add a criminal lawyer to our team!

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and committed Associate Lawyer with a minimum of two (2) years of criminal trial experience to join our growing defence practice. The ideal candidate has a strong courtroom presence, a passion for advocacy, and the ability to independently manage a varied caseload from intake to trial.

Responsibilities

- Handle a broad range of criminal files at all stages, from bail to trial and sentencing
- Represent clients at various court levels, including Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court
- Conduct legal research, draft Charter applications, submissions etc
- Maintain regular client communication and manage expectations
- Work collaboratively with other counsel and legal support staff
- Participate in firm meetings and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

- Member in good standing with law society




- Minimum 2 years of experience practicing criminal law, with demonstrated trial experience
- Strong oral and written advocacy skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a busy caseload independently
- Ability to assess files critically and provide strategic advice
- Experience with legal aid files and managing clients with complex needs is an asset
- Multilingual candidates or those with experience in mental health or youth court are encouraged to apply

Compensation based on experience:

$80,000 - $200,000

Hybrid + Option to work from home some days of the week.

Possibility to work from Toronto office as well
