Senior Commercial Foodservice Equipment Technician
Location: Victoria, BC
Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $50–$60/hour depending on experience

Uptown AC is growing our Commercial Kitchen Service division, and we're looking for an experienced foodservice equipment tech to join our team and help us grow it.

You'll join a division manager, and a junior technician currently training into the role. As our seasoned kitchen service tech, you'll be servicing commercial cooking equipment and dishwashers for restaurants, hotels, and institutional kitchens across Southern Vancouver Island.

This is a role for someone who already knows their way around a commercial kitchen and wants to work independently, not someone looking to be trained from scratch. You'll run your own calls, make your own decisions on the equipment in front of you, and be trusted to get it right, while having a division manager and full leadership support behind you when you need it without micromanagement.

What you'll work on:

- Commercial ovens, combi ovens, convection ovens, ranges
- Grilles, griddles, fryers, broilers, steamers, tilting skillets
- Commercial dishwashers, glass washers, flight-type machines

What your day looks like:

- Diagnose and repair commercial cooking and warewashing equipment independently in the field
- Use schematics, manufacturer tools,



and diagnostic instruments to get to the root of a problem fast
- Run scheduled maintenance visits and document findings
- Communicate clearly and directly with kitchen managers about what's wrong, what it costs, and how long it'll take
- Assist with installing and commissioning new commercial kitchen equipment
- Manage your own truck stock, parts sourcing, and service documentation
- Help grow the division: mentoring our junior technician and taking on more client base as the team expands

Requirements

- Gas Certificate; either B or "Appliance" level certification
- 5+ years diagnosing and repairing commercial kitchen/foodservice equipment (ovens, ranges, fryers, dishwashers, etc.)
- Comfortable working independently with minimal oversight. This isn't an entry-level or closely-supervised position
- Technical diploma or trade certificate in electronics, electrical technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer service manuals
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence with a clean record
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work comfortably in hot commercial kitchen environments

Nice to Have

- Experience with gas-fired foodservice equipment
- Familiarity with commercial kitchen brands (Rational, Garland, Hobart,



Vulcan, Alto-Shaam, Hoshizaki)
- Experience mentoring or training other technicians
- CFESA technician certification

Our Commercial Kitchen Service division is led by an experienced division manager with an established client base, alongside a junior technician training into the role. We're not a national chain.
