Lead Automotive Technician – Red Seal | Gas & Diesel | $55–$65/Hour

Grande Prairie Auto Repair – Grande Prairie, Alberta

Up to $60 per hour, plus production bonus

Grande Prairie Auto Repair is looking for an experienced Red Seal Automotive Service Technician to fill the Lead Technician position at one of our busy Grande Prairie locations.

This is a hands-on leadership position for a strong diagnostician who can repair both gasoline and light-duty diesel vehicles, help other technicians solve difficult problems, and maintain high standards for workmanship and productivity.

You will still work in the shop and produce hours. This is not a desk-management position.

What We Offer

- Up to $60 per hour, based on experience and diagnostic ability
- Additional production bonus
- Guaranteed hours
- Consistent year-round workflow
- Paid technical training
- Relocation assistance for the right candidate
- Air-conditioned, modern repair facility
- Factory-level scan tools and modern diagnostic equipment
- Organized workflow and professional service-advisor support
- Full health benefits, including prescription drugs, dental and vision
- Short-term and long-term disability coverage
- Life insurance
- Paid vacation
- RRSP matching
- Opportunity to help lead and develop a strong technical team

What You Will Do

- Diagnose and repair gasoline and light-duty diesel vehicles
- Handle complex electrical, drivability, network and mechanical problems
- Perform advanced testing instead of relying on parts replacement
- Complete accurate digital inspections and document test results
- Review difficult diagnoses and repair plans with other technicians
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to apprentices and journeyperson technicians
- Help assign work according to technician ability and shop priorities

- Perform quality-control inspections when required
- Reduce comebacks by ensuring repairs are properly diagnosed, completed and verified
- Communicate clearly with service advisors about findings, required testing and repair recommendations
- Help improve shop procedures, technical efficiency and repair quality
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area

What We Are Looking For

- Alberta Journeyperson or Canadian Red Seal Automotive Service Technician certification
- Strong experience repairing gasoline vehicles
- Proven light-duty diesel diagnostic and repair experience
- Advanced electrical and drivability diagnostic ability
- Ability to interpret scan data, wiring diagrams and service information
- Strong mechanical ability across multiple makes and models
- Ability to produce efficiently without sacrificing workmanship
- Leadership ability and willingness to help other technicians succeed
- Clear communication and professional conduct
- Valid driver’s licence
- Personal tools appropriate for an experienced technician

Experience with Power Stroke, Duramax and Cummins-equipped light-duty trucks is a strong asset.

You May Be a Good Fit If You

- Are already the technician other people ask for help
- Diagnose the cause of a problem instead of guessing
- Take ownership of your work and verify repairs before releasing vehicles
- Want leadership responsibility without giving up hands-on technical work

- Expect proper equipment, steady workflow and professional support
- Want your experience and productivity reflected in your compensation

This Position Is Not a Fit If You

- Depend on parts swapping instead of testing
- Avoid electrical or drivability diagnosis
- Need constant supervision to complete work properly
- Blame service advisors, parts suppliers or other technicians instead of solving problems
- Are unwilling to document findings or follow established procedures
- Want the Lead Technician title without accepting responsibility for quality and team performance
