On-Call Early Childhood Educator (ECE Level 2/3)

Position: On-Call Early Childhood Educator (ECE Level 2/3)

Location: Ascent Daycare, Calgary, Alberta
Reports To: Daycare Director / Program Supervisor

Position Summary

Ascent Daycare is seeking a caring, responsible, and flexible On-Call Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to provide coverage for staff absences, vacations, professional development days, and other operational needs. The successful candidate will support a safe, inclusive, nurturing, and engaging workplace for children while following the daycare's program philosophy, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide active and attentive supervision of children at all times.
- Support children's physical, emotional, social, and developmental needs.
- Participate in age-appropriate indoor and outdoor play-based learning activities.
- Assist with daily routines, including meals, snacks, rest, toileting, and transitions.
- Use positive, respectful, and developmentally appropriate behaviour guidance strategies.
- Maintain required staff-to-child ratios and follow all health, safety, hygiene, and emergency procedures.
- Follow allergy, medication, incident reporting, and child protection policies.




- Work collaboratively with educators, supervisors, and other daycare staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and communicate professionally with families and colleagues.
- Be flexible and willing to work in different classrooms and with different age groups as required.
- Respond to on-call requests and provide short-notice coverage when available.

Qualifications

- Current Alberta ECE certification. ECE Level 2, or 3
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Record Check, as required.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- Strong communication, teamwork, reliability, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and nurturing environment for children.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Calgary, AB T2A 2R1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
