Accountant

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our team in a full time, on-site role in Mississauga, ON. The ideal candidate will have 4–5 years of accounting experience and a strong understanding of general accounting practices, reconciliations, financial reporting, and accounting operations.

The Accountant will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations, assisting with month-end and year-end closing, and supporting financial reporting and analysis. The role will also include managing and reviewing accounts payable activities, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and supporting various accounting and finance-related functions.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and general ledgers.

Perform bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.

Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.

Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.

Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.

Review and process invoices and assist with accounts payable activities, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and appropriately supported.

Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on discrepancies or outstanding documentation.

Assist with maintaining vendor and accounting records.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.





Assist with the preparation of information required for tax filings, audits, and other financial requirements.

Work with internal departments and external vendors to address accounting-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies.

Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation in accordance with company policies and internal controls.

Assist with financial analysis and provide accounting information to support management decision-making.

Ensure accounting activities are completed in accordance with applicable accounting principles and company policies.

Provide general accounting support and assist with other finance-related projects as required.

Qualifications

4–5 years of relevant accounting experience.

Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and practices.

Experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing.

Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Experience with QuickBooks and other accounting software/systems.

Ability to learn and adapt to different accounting and financial management systems.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Previous experience in the hospitality or hotel industry is considered an asset.

Salary: $42,000–$58,000 per year
