Residential Counsellor:
Required Shifts: Days, evenings, weekends, & nights

Position Summary:
The Residential Counsellor, reporting to the Program Manager, works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide
ongoing side-by-side in-house and community support, Activities of Daily Living teaching and stabilization for individuals living with a serious mental illness, addictions issues, dual diagnosis, and/or concurrent disorders. Working collaboratively with individuals, family members, team members, treatment team members and other service providers, the incumbent provides services within a supportive housing model, aiming for individual self-sufficiency to encourage the potential for clients to transition to a more independent living situation.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or degree in a related discipline (psychology, social services, addictions and mental health)
- 6 months to one-year relevant experience providing services to adults who live with a mental illness, a dual diagnosis, and/or concurrent disorder, preferably in a community or residential setting is required
- Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (FA/CPR) Certification
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) an asset
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) an asset
- Demonstrated crisis intervention skills and experience
- Experience with communication, interpersonal and prioritization skills
- Experience with crisis intervention, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop therapeutic rapport with individuals living with complex needs
- Must be able to work independently and interdependently in collaboration with other multidisciplinary team members
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License, be able to be insured on agency owned vehicles with a transparent driver’s
- abstract, have regular access to a reliable vehicle, and provide proof of adequate vehicle insurance
- Basic proficiency in computer skills; MS Office preferred
- Required to provide a satisfactory criminal reference check with vulnerable sector screening prior to hire
Personal Support Worker
Required Shifts: Days, evenings, nights, & weekends

Position Summary:
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is a member of the multi-disciplinary team in our Residential Programs. The PSW provides personal support and activities of daily living support to residents of the programs.
The PSW provides services that directly support residents to adequately maintain their living environment and personal care activities while promoting learning and skills development. The PSW collaborates with members of the residential programs’ multi-disciplinary team in meeting the needs of residents to attain an optimal level of independence and wellbeing. The residents may have various diagnoses and/or issues related to mental health, substance use, communicable diseases, viruses, incontinence, etc. All services are provided in accordance with the mission and established protocols of CMHA HPE.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- College certificate Personal Support Worker Program
- 6 months to one-year of relevant experience providing PSW services
- Knowledge of substance use/mental health preferred
- Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (FA/CPR) Certification
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred or willingness to certify within 3 months of hiring
- Current Suicide Intervention training (i.e. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental health symptoms, issues, psychotropic medications and associated side effects an asset
- Knowledge of issues related to addictions an asset
- Good personal support needs assessment skills
- Ability to work under pressure within a changing setting
- Working knowledge of the Health Care Consent Act, Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, and other relevant legislation
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-developed problem-solving, prioritization and conflict resolution skills
- Awareness of community resources
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team or independently as required
- Ability to take direction well
- Ability to adjust to working in different social and economic environments
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Basic proficiency in computer skills; MS Office preferred

Registered Practical Nurse

Position Summary:
As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in our Residential Programs, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate and effective care to residents who have a combination of physical health and mental health needs. The RPN is responsible for providing quality care to residents participating in our residential programs and providing leadership to others, as assigned. Our residential programs offer innovative, clinical wrap around care, multi-disciplinary, therapeutic, and rehabilitative supportive housing programs for individuals living with mental health and/or addictions issues, potentially with co-occurring medical or physical health needs.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Graduate from a Practical Nursing program
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing,
or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- 6 months to one-year of nursing experience, mental health or long-term care setting preferred
- Knowledge of substance use/mental health preferred
- Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (FA/CPR) Certification
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred or willingness to certify within 3 months of hiring
