Our client, Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta, is seeking a highly motivated and community-minded professional to join its Housing Program team as a Navigator. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a difference by supporting Treaty 8 members and their families in accessing and maintaining safe, stable housing.

Reporting to the Manager, Housing Program, the Navigator works directly with individuals and families to build the skills and resiliency needed to access and maintain reliable housing, while ensuring program requirements are met in accordance with client needs and contractual agreements.

This position is a full-time contract position ending March 31, 2028, with the possibility of extension.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide individuals and their families with supports to take responsibility for making appropriate housing-related decisions.
- Ensure program requirements are met in accordance with client needs and contractual agreements.
- Support individuals and families to access and maintain stable housing within the Housing First program model.
- Liaise with housing sector service providers, Income Supports, Justice and Community Services, and other service systems on behalf of clients.
- Maintain accurate client records and program documentation using relevant databases and information technology.
- Prioritize work and meet all skilled deadlines while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
- Seek out and build relationships with individuals, families, team members, and community partners, while maintaining professional boundaries.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate brings in-depth experience and working knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultures,



healing, and language. They have previous experience in human services and/or extensive experience working with multi-barrier individuals, understand how service systems operate within the housing sector, and are proficient with databases and information technology. Strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to work flexible hours, and a high level of professionalism and confidentiality are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Diploma, certificate, or related education in social services, community support, Indigenous studies, human services, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in program support, client services, or community-based program delivery.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, or community-based programs is considered an asset.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

- Valid Class 5 AB driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within Treaty 8 Alberta Territory and other locations as required.
- Willingness to submit to an oath of confidentiality.
- Transparent criminal record and vulnerable sector check required.
- Ability to speak or understand Cree or another Treaty 8 language is considered an asset.
