Cashier – Front of House & Retail

We’re looking for a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to be the face of Alfie’s.

This role is all about exceptional customer service and ensuring every guest has a warm and memorable experience. You will be responsible for everything customers see—from the moment they walk in, to their final purchase. You’ll also help manage our small in-store Italian market section, keeping it organized and well-stocked.

Position Details:

- Hourly Wage: $18.00/hour
- Hours: 20 to 40 hours per week (Part-time and Full-time)

Key Responsibilities:

- Greet every customer with warmth, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
- Operate the cash register with accuracy, handling cash, debit, and credit transactions.
- Help customers navigate the menu and retail offerings, answering questions with confidence.
- Maintain a clean, inviting front-of-house space, including tables, counters, and displays.
- Stock and merchandise the restaurant’s small Italian grocery section (e.g., pasta, sauces, oils, beverages), ensuring FIFO (First-In, First-Out) is followed.




- Restock drinks, snacks, and retail products throughout the day as needed.
- Organize and label retail items, ensuring clear pricing and expiry dates.
- Take phone orders and assist with catering inquiries professionally.
- Support pickup and takeout order flow, ensuring accuracy and speed.
- Work with the kitchen team to ensure smooth communication and service delivery.
- Monitor overall customer experience and flag any issues or improvements to management.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 1 year of experience in a customer-facing or retail role.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Cash handling experience and comfort using POS systems.
- Organized and attentive to detail, especially with product labeling and expiry tracking.
- A friendly, team-oriented attitude and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Passion for food and interest in Italian cuisine a plus.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
