CHEAKAMUS CENTRE

Established in 1969, Cheakamus Centre is an overnight environmental education facility located on 165 ha of ecological reserve near Squamish, BC. The Centre is located on the traditional territories of the Chi'yakmesh people of

Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation in the heart of the newly designated Átl’ka7tsem/Howe Sound UNESCO Biosphere

Region.

Cheakamus Centre is owned by the North Vancouver School District and offers a wide variety of experiential environmental education programs to children and adults from the Sea to Sky corridor, Metro Vancouver, and beyond.

The educational program offerings include youth leadership, recreation, and other hands-on experiences intended to instill in young learners a sense of respect and appreciation for the natural world.

Cheakamus Centre also hosts visitors from around the globe for special events, weddings, retreats, conferences, camps, and workshops.

JOB FUNCTION:

Work directly with the Housekeeping Supervisor and Maintenance Manager to ensure the

success of daily cleaning operations at Cheakamus Centre. This would include overnight

accommodations, classroom and breakout spaces, meal service area set ups, common spaces,

offices, washroom facilities, meeting rooms, etc. Attention to detail and time management are

required skills to be successful in this role. This role will require a great deal of mobility and the

ability to work in an outdoor environment.



This role will also require a versatile schedule that may include morning or afternoon shifts and weekends.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Meet or exceed the knowledge, skills and aptitudes for the Job Standard of Housekeeping, including but is not limited to:

- Cleaning and sanitizing all areas following CC standards and protocols

- Vacuuming, sweeping mopping cabins and rooms

- Preparing bedding and linen for accommodations

- Note and report deficiencies when recognized

- Note and report inventory levels when necessary

- Restocking supply rooms and carts.

- Follow verbal and written instructions daily

- An understanding of proper use regarding PPE

- Any other reasonable duties assigned by the HS or MM
