Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks
- Support participation in recreational, educational, and community activities to promote social engagement and skill development
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed guidelines and document appropriately
- Use effective communication techniques, including American Sign Language if applicable, to facilitate understanding and interaction
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each person’s needs and goals
- Monitor health and safety conditions within the environment, reporting concerns promptly
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and empowering atmosphere that encourages independence and self-esteem
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or in caregiving roles is preferred
- Knowledge of special education principles is advantageous
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures is beneficial
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language, are highly valued
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate support while maintaining professionalism and patience
