Occupational Therapy Assistant — Child Development Centre Barrie, Ontario | Part-Time | Saturdays and Sundays | $25–$28 per hour (Depending on experience)

We are a child development centre in Barrie providing multidisciplinary, child-centred support to children and families. We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our weekend team, supporting the delivery of occupational therapy services under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

This position is currently a weekend role with the potential to expand into weeknight hours in the fall.

Responsibilities

- Assist in the delivery of occupational therapy programs and interventions under the direction of a Registered Occupational Therapist
- Support children in developing functional skills across sensory, motor, self-care, and daily living domains
- Prepare therapy materials, equipment, and treatment spaces prior to sessions
- Document session observations and client progress accurately and in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively with the supervising OT, clinical team, and families as directed
- Maintain a safe, organized, and client-centred therapy environment
- Uphold confidentiality of all client information in accordance with organizational policy

Qualifications

- Diploma in Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA)



or Occupational Therapist Assistant from a recognized Ontario college program
- Minimum 6 months of experience working with children with developmental needs, autism, or related exceptionalities
- Ability to work effectively under the supervision and direction of a Registered Occupational Therapist
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills
- Patient, adaptable, and genuinely invested in supporting children and families
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check required prior to commencement — must be issued within the last six months

Additional Information

- Part-time weekend position — Saturdays and Sundays
- Strong potential to expand into weeknight hours beginning fall 2026
