Service Writer

Position Summary

DP Auto is seeking a motivated, organized, and customer-focused Service Writer to serve as the primary point of contact between our customers and the shop. The Service Writer is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while coordinating repairs, creating accurate estimates and invoices, and ensuring clear communication throughout the repair process.

The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

- Greet customers in person, by phone, and through email or text.
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to customer inquiries professionally.
- Schedule appointments and manage the daily shop calendar.
- Create work orders and accurately document customer concerns.
- Prepare estimates and explain recommended repairs to customers.
- Obtain customer authorization before repairs are performed.
- Maintain regular communication with customers regarding repair progress, delays, and completion times.
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize workflow and update repair statuses.
- Prepare and finalize invoices using the shop management system.
- Process customer payments and maintain accurate records.
- Order parts when required and coordinate with suppliers.
- Maintain organized customer files and repair history.
- Assist in warranty claims and documentation when applicable.
- Keep the reception and customer waiting area clean and professional.
- Support the shop owner and technicians with administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications





- Previous experience in customer service; automotive service writing experience is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of automotive systems and repairs, or a willingness to learn.
- Experience with shop management software, QuickBooks, or similar computer systems is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
