osition Summary

The Receiver is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and processing all incoming merchandise and supplies. This role ensures products are delivered accurately, meet quality standards, and are stored appropriately while maintaining inventory accuracy, food safety, and a clean receiving area.

Key ResponsibilitiesReceiving & Inventory

- Receive deliveries from vendors according to scheduled delivery times.
- Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, invoices, and packing slips.
- Count, inspect, and record all products for accuracy and quality.
- Report shortages, overages, damaged goods, or discrepancies to management immediately.
- Label and organize received products for proper storage.

Product Handling

- Rotate stock using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.
- Ensure refrigerated and frozen products are promptly stored at the required temperatures.
- Handle perishable products according to food safety standards.
- Safely move merchandise using pallet jacks, carts, or other approved equipment.
- Maintain proper organization of the receiving dock and storage areas.

Inventory Control

- Assist with inventory counts and stock reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate receiving records and documentation.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock issues to management.
- Assist departments with locating and distributing received products.

Health & Safety

- Follow all workplace health and safety policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free receiving area.




- Use proper lifting techniques and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Comply with food safety, sanitation, and company policies.

Customer & Team Support

- Work collaboratively with department managers and store associates.
- Support store operations by ensuring products are available for timely stocking.
- Provide assistance with other warehouse or store duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous receiving, warehouse, grocery, or retail experience is an asset.
- Basic computer and inventory management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments when required.
- Ability to safely operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.

Working Conditions

- Fast-paced grocery retail setting.
- Early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
- Exposure to varying temperatures in receiving, cooler, and freezer areas.
