Personal Support Worker

Scope of Position:

The Personal Support Worker shall provide personal care and other services to residents in a secure and efficient manner in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Home.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provides services and interacts with residents and resident family members in a professional manner
- Administer medication to residents
- Complete all assigned paperwork
- Participates as a member of the care team and provides support to the other members of the Services team
- Observes and adheres to all policies and procedures, work standards and safety regulations
- Assists and attends to care needs of the residents as required
- Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner
- Aware of employees and supervisor’s responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents
- Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing)



as required by task, MSDS, or home policy
- Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

- Previous experience in providing personal care
- Post-secondary education in related care fields of PSW/HCA/ DSW certification
- Must be able to read and communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
- Effective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
- Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations appropriately
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift and carrying heavy items

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Wardsville, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
