Edmonton

Are you a mechanically skilled problem‑solver who enjoys overseeing a shop, keeping equipment reliable, and fixing what breaks? This role is for you!

About Us

We are a well‑established organization with over 30 years of experience providing trenchless pipe rehabilitation solutions to municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater markets. Our success relies on reliable equipment, safe operations, and people who take pride in doing things right.

Overview

We are currently looking for a Hands‑On Shop Lead – Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance at our Edmonton location. We’re looking for a hands‑on Shop Lead to take day‑to‑day responsibility for our Edmonton facility, supporting a diverse fleet of vehicles and proprietary construction equipment used across our operations. This role does not require the AST or other mechanic’s license/certification. We are specifically seeking an experienced, practical, non‑licensed technician with strong mechanical ability and shop leadership skills.

About the Role

This is a hands‑on position with real responsibility. You’ll be the primary person ensuring our vehicles, equipment, and shop are ready to support operations — diagnosing issues, completing repairs, coordinating vendors, and keeping the shop running smoothly.

You’ll work collaboratively with our Equipment Manager while owning the day‑to‑day execution in the shop.

What You’ll Do (Day‑to‑Day)

- Take ownership of the Edmonton shop, ensuring fleet and equipment readiness
- Diagnose issues and perform repairs on vehicles, proprietary equipment, and supporting systems
- Plan and complete preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns and downtime
- Perform inspections, seasonal maintenance, and winterization
- Complete basic diagnostics, mechanical repairs, and adjustments
- Coordinate external vendors for specialized or outsourced repairs when required
- Perform basic welding and fabrication as needed
- Troubleshoot minor AC/DC electrical issues safely and effectively

- Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and service records
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Act as the primary contact for facility and building maintenance matters
- Travel occasionally, including overnight trips when required

Who This Role Is Perfect For

This role is a outstanding fit if you:

- Are mechanically strong but not interested in pursuing a licensed mechanic path
- Enjoy working across vehicles, equipment, and facilities — not just one system
- Like owning a shop rather than just following work orders
- Prefer stable weekday hours over dealership or flat‑rate shop environments
- Take pride in prevention, organization, and reliability

What We’re Looking For

- 5+ years of hands‑on experience maintaining vehicles, equipment, or industrial machinery
- Strong mechanical aptitude with practical troubleshooting skills
- Welding and basic fabrication experience
- Working knowledge of basic electrical systems
- Ability to document work clearly and accurately
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Proactive, safety‑focused, and dependable approach to work
- Comfortable coordinating with vendors and external service providers

Assets (Not Required):

- Construction or underground infrastructure experience
- Class 3 license

Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.

If this sounds like you, please reply to this ad to get in touch with our Human Resources Manager. We are excited to hear from you!
