Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

BIOC 3700: Biomolecular Chemistry (Fall 2026) consists of both lecture and laboratory components. The successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating, supervising, and teaching the laboratory portion of the course.

The course includes 12 weeks of 3-hour lab sessions, with students attending one of two sections held each week on Mondays or Tuesdays. The successful applicant will provide direct instruction in both laboratory sections, each of which may enroll up to 48 students, with support from teaching assistants (TAs).

The successful applicant will oversee the TA team, including conducting weekly meetings to train, mentor, and coordinate TA activities. They will also work collaboratively as part of the course team, which includes the lecture instructors and laboratory technician in supporting all aspects of the laboratory component of BIOC 3700, including responding to student inquiries and managing the course.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

- An advanced degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology or a related discipline is required.
- Recent teaching experience in a related discipline is required.
- Experience providing laboratory instruction to undergraduate students will be considered a strong asset, particularly experience teaching or supporting BIOC 3700 at Dalhousie University.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Brightspace and the Microsoft Office Suite is required.





Salary Range/Pay Rate

Per CUPE Collective Agreement
