Job Summary
The Intermediate Transmission Line Engineer will join the Transmission & Distribution Electrical team and contribute to innovative substation projects that strengthen grid reliability, support renewable energy integration, and shape Canada’s energy future. The role may be based in any of WSP’s Western Canada offices, with preference for Edmonton.Responsibilities
Lead technical aspects of transmission line design projects (34.5kV–500kV), including new lines, relocations, rebuilds, upgrades, structure replacements, and fiber optic additionsPrepare and review design deliverables such as plan and profile drawings, material selection, and construction specificationsConduct quality reviews of internal and subcontractor deliverablesManage and prioritize multiple projects within budget and time constraintsEvaluate technical options, criteria, and routes for design meritApply knowledge of construction standards for high voltage line workCoordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure client satisfactionAct as Technical Project Management Lead and maintain strong client relationshipsManage project reporting, invoicing, accounts receivable, and unbilled workDevelop and monitor scope, schedules, and budgets against plan and contractsEnsure adherence to budget, schedule, and quality requirementsServe as primary liaison between client and project team;
understand client interestsProactively identify challenges and implement solutions for project successProvide leadership and mentoring to the project teamTravel to client offices, field sites, or vendor facilities as requiredSupport business development activities and participate in proposal preparationQualifications
Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering Physics degree from an accredited university5 to 10 years experience in transmission design,



including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and development of construction bid packagesProficiency with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE, and PLS‑LiteExperience in a Project Engineering or Project Management capacity working with multidisciplinary teams on complex projectsProfessional Engineering license (P.Eng.)Experience with AutoCAD/Microstation, MFAD, and Microsoft Project preferredKnowledge of transmission line routing, field program planning, project management, EPC projects, and line constructionDistribution/underbuild design experience a plusManagerial and leadership skillsBenefits

BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $98,800 to $130,800MB & ON: $90,100 to $124,100Atlantic Provinces & QC: $89,200 to $118,500The final salary may vary based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.EEO and Safety
